'Hydrostatic Head' is the industry test for water penetration resistance.
The pressure required to get penetration is measured in centimetres of head (the height that a column of water needs to be to exert that pressure). The higher the figure the better. To be regarded as fully waterproof a figure of at least 100 is required.
Here is a chart describing the results of KAMMO® fabrics from tests carried out by the Department of Textiles at Leeds University, and ourselves.

RESISTANCE TO WATER PENETRATION
Hydrostatic Head Test in cms. The higher the figure the better the penetration resistance. This test is widely regarded internationally as the "standard" waterproofness test.
